In opening the workshop, Professor Richard Akromah, Provost of the CANR, stated that the ever increasing human population demands that we find innovative ways of producing food in more efficient ways, while maintaining the rich biodiversity of our world. He noted that agriculture is challenged by the changing climate and the competition for land for other uses such as new settlements, roads and other infrastructure and called for innovative ways of doing business on the land.
Professor Akromah hoped the two-week workshop will help refresh the minds of participants, share ideas and to help chart new ways to improve businesses in agricultural technologies.
Professor Diederik de Boer from MSM is the facilitator of the workshop.
